    The appointees will get an exposure to the critical care and management of cardiothoracic surgery patients. They will assist surgeons in the consulting clinics, operating room and provide coverage on the floors.

    This training course is developed and directed by the Department of Neurophysiology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi (AKUH,K). The on-the job Trainee Programme is a unique feature of the department. This training aims to provide effective training with practical skills to mold selected candidates into effective and skilled work force.

    The incumbent will be responsible to undertake the entire store function such as evaluating the incoming supplies, daily issuing of food & non-food commodities; maintaining the inventory control procedures, evaluating new products and stock rotation principles as well as ensure compliance of food safety parameters in accordance to JCIA and ISO standards.

    • MCPS or M.Phil in Pathology;
    • 3-5 years of related experience;
    • Pathologists with FCPS in any of the subspecialties including Hematology, Chemical Pathology or Microbiology would be preferred;
    • Should be well-versed in service, academic and quality practices.

    The selected candidate would be required to undergo on-the-job training at Aga Khan University, Karachi.

    The incumbents will be responsible for assisting the Anaesthesiologists in arranging necessary equipments and drugs required before and during the anaesthesia procedure; preparing and maintaining the equipment; helping in positioning the patients for surgery; following all the policies and procedures with regard to working in the surgical area and supervising junior anaesthesia technicians.

    The position will be based in Karachi and will report to Vice President, Health & Operational Services. The incumbent will be responsible for creating and executing project work plans for University wide health services and operational functions across all locations, including: AKUH Karachi and affiliated health services in Pakistan and Central Asia, Afghanistan; AKUH, Nairobi and affiliated health services in East Africa.

    Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Policy Analyst based in Karachi. Reporting to the Vice President, Health & Operational Services the incumbent will work closely with University service and academic leadership to support the Aga Khan University in planning and implementing emerging initiatives in Kabul;  and to coordinate inter-agency efforts to integrate health delivery systems under the strategic guidance of the Operational Committee for Central Asia.

    The position will be responsible for University wide health services and operational functions across all the locations, including: AKUH Karachi and affiliated health services in Pakistan, Central Asia; Afghanistan; AKUH, Nairobi and affiliated health services in East Africa.

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Receiving cash from customers and reconciling cash balance at the time of closing of Gift Shop;
    • Keeping updated record of bills, receipts and credit sales to departments;
    • Reordering items from suppliers, checking prices of the products charged and counting the quantities received;
    • Ensuring safe custody of fixed assets and inventory at the warehouse of the Gift Shop;
    • Participating in perpetual inventory count of items and the physical count of inventory at year end;
    • Assisting in administration and general upkeep  of the shop;
    • Handling cash transactions in the other shops of the University in the absence of their cashier.

    The incumbent will be responsible to provide secretarial assistance to the Director, Resource Development, including drafting and typing correspondence, arranging meetings, managing documents, handling appointments, ensuring office upkeep, etc.  S/he will also work with the Resource Development team in organizing donor events.

      The candidate will be responsible for:
    • Managing the reception area well;
    • Keeping track of all calls and messages received for residents;
    • Providing assistance to house mother to resolve issues of residents and coordinating with all other departments.
    The incumbent will be responsible for supervising the overall activities of inpatient billing and cashiering; monitoring the revenue capturing system and ensuring timely deposit of revenues; resolving patient billing queries/complaints; reviewing accounting adjustments, reconciliations and any other activity regarding inpatient and outpatient revenues.
    The incumbent will be responsible to assure efficient operations, repair and maintenance of all refrigeration and air conditioning equipment / services through available staff in order to ensure minimum breakdowns and obtain user satisfaction; reviewing HVAC & design packages prepared by the consultant. Prepare feasibility reports; coordinate and interact with external contractors and project teams to facilitate the installation & commissioning of HVAC systems.
    The incumbent will be responsible to assure efficient operations, repair and maintenance of all refrigeration and air conditioning equipment / services through available staff in order to ensure minimum breakdowns and obtain user satisfaction; reviewing HVAC & design packages prepared by the consultant.     The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the electrician in day to day operations; cleaning  of electrical  and related equipment; maintenance of electric sub-stations, electric closets & PPM of electric manholes. Provide assistance in lifting heavy equipment to and from workshop for major overhauling.

    S/he will report to the Head of design or his designate.The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Designing modifications to existing premises which includes helping users formulate user requirements;
    • Preparing schematic and detailed designs on CAD which are fully coordinated for engineering services including HVAC, plumbing, medical gases and electrical requirements;
    • Specifying material for use and ensuring adherence to agreed time schedule for design;
    • Reviewing design of capital projects (both schematic and detailed designs) on the basis of design brief, space programme and user requirements and ensuring adherence to AKU's design philosophies and recommending any changes proposed;
